Filling Sublimation Refillable Ink cartridges

Today I will be going over how to fill sublimation ink cartridges.

What You Will Need:

Step 1: Read the directions provided with your ink cartridges

Each type of ink cartridges is slightly different and the manufacturer may have specific details that you will need to follow and they will go over those steps. I will be going over the general steps.

Step 2: Put your gloves on!

Step 3: Lay down your paper towels!

Step 4:  One bottle at a time

Decide what color you want to fill first, for me, it always black. I will take the black sublimation ink bottle, cartridge, and syringe and push the others outside of easy reach. Nothing is worse than filling you cyan with black.

Step 5: Remove the necessary plugs

You will need to refer to your specific ink cartridges but remove the correct plugs.

Step 6: Fill Syringe

Open the bottle of Sublimation Ink and take your syringe and fill it. You want to make sure that you don’t have any air bubbles in the syringe(See yellow syringe). Air bubbles in your cartridges will cause problems.

Step 7: Place Syringe in Cartridge

Using the fill hole(most cartridges have two holes, a fill hole, and a vent hole) insert the syringe straight into the cartridge. The inside of the cartridges are lined with very thin plastic( think plastic bag) that can easily be punctured with the syringe.

Step 8: Slowly Fill Cartridges

Slowly push down on the top of the syringe to fill the cartridge to avoid overfilling or breaking the cartridge. You want to fill the cartridge 7/8th full. There is no reason to fill fuller than that, as it will only cause problems. Refillable cartridges hold more than genuine Epson Cartridges so your printer will require you to refill them sooner than needed, as is.

Step 9: Close the Bottle and Push Cap Back In

Put the lid back on the sublimation ink, make sure you screw it on tightly. Push the tab back into the ink cartridge and set aside.

Step 10: Repeat Steps 4-9 with Other Ink Colors

Repeat for all of your cartridges.

Step 11: Place into Printer

All done! Go ahead and put them in the printer! Again, make sure that you have the right plugs in/out of the cartridges!
